Incorporating Botox® into Your Regular Beauty Routine

Years of smiles, frowns, and laughter can take their toll on your face, causing forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet or lines around the eyes. Creams and facial treatments can only do so much - but fortunately, there’s a safe, effective way to eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and rediscover the look of your more youthful days.

At Bayview General Medicine & Aesthetics in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Dr. Richard Blanchar is making quality, safe Botox® treatments more accessible than ever. You’ll love the effect Botox has on your face and how the years melt away after treatment.

The science of Botox

Botox is not a new concept. The cosmetic form has been approved by the FDA for over 15 years, and treatments involving Botox have only gotten more sophisticated over time.

How Botox works

Botox is derived from the Botulinum toxin, making it a natural remedy to wrinkles. This toxin is highly purified, making it safe to inject under the skin. Botox works by paralyzing and relaxing the facial muscles, eliminating the lines and wrinkles caused by smiling, laughing, squinting, or frowning. This creates a more youthful appearance.

Where Botox can be injected

Botox is most often used to smooth out lines across the forehead, between the brows, and at the corners of your eyes (crow's feet). Most Botox treatments focus on these three areas specifically. Other wrinkles, like the ones running from your nose to the corners of your mouth, might require separate injections with treatments like dermal fillers

The Botox Experience

The procedure for Botox is simple and only takes a few minutes. Once you're settled and relaxed, Dr. Blanchar will perform the injections. These are over fairly quickly and are less painful than other beauty procedures like waxing.

Dr. Blanchar will tell you what you can and cannot do after getting Botox, but you can typically resume normal activities after a matter of hours. You’ll want to avoid direct sunlight and refrain from taking over-the-counter medications like ibuprofen, aspirin, or naproxen sodium for 48 hours. If your face feels tingly or warm, you can use an ice pack to relieve symptoms.

The effects of Botox begin visually appearing soon after the injections. The muscles responsible for frowning or furrowing your brow will be relaxed, and wrinkles will fade. This lasts for 4-12 months, so it isn’t permanent. You can schedule regular Botox injection as part of your standard beauty routine.
